New Brethren Church

Breaking Ground: New Brethren Church at TCHCC

The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center (TCHCC) is excited to announce a significant addition to our cultural village – a replica of a traditional Czech Brethren Church. The groundbreaking ceremony for this new structure took place on October 19, 2024, immediately following the opening ceremonies of our annual Heritage Fest and Muziky celebration.

This new church represents an important step in our ongoing mission to create an authentic representation of early Czech settlements in Texas. The Brethren Church played a crucial role in the lives of many Czech immigrants, serving not just as a place of worship, but as a community hub and a vital link to their homeland.

While the groundbreaking has already occurred, the project is still underway. The TCHCC is actively raising funds to complete the church’s relocation and restoration. Our goal is to raise $80,000 to move a historic Czech Brethren Church from its current location on a hill south of Shiner to the TCHCC grounds.

  1. The relocation process is complex and requires careful planning:
  2. The church’s steeple and roof will need to be removed for the move.
  3. The structure will be carefully transported to its new home at the TCHCC.
  4. Once on site, the church will be restored to its original glory.

This project is more than just relocating a building; it’s about preserving a piece of Czech-Texan history. The church will serve as a living museum, offering visitors a glimpse into the spiritual and community life of early Czech settlers in Texas.

We invite all supporters of Czech-Texan heritage to be part of this exciting project. Whether through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading the word, every contribution helps us bring this important piece of history to life at the TCHCC.

Stay tuned for updates on the church’s progress and announcements about future events that will take place in this historic structure once it’s completed.
This is an exciting time for the TCHCC and for all who cherish Czech-Texan history!
